What are roller blinds?

A roller blind is a single, flat panel of fabric that rolls up onto a tube fixed at the top of the window. Pull the chain and the blind lowers to cover the glass; pull it the other way and it rolls neatly back up, leaving the window clear. It can also be stopped at any height in between.

Because a roller blind sits close to the window and takes up very little space, it works where curtains would get in the way: above a kitchen worktop, in a home office, in a bathroom, or tucked behind curtains as an extra layer of light control. In Dubai's strong sun, a blackout or light-filtering roller blind is a simple, tidy way to manage glare and heat.

Benefits

Why Choose Roller Blinds

  • Saves space

A flat panel that rolls onto a tube needs no room at the sides or the floor, ideal for kitchens, bathrooms and tight spaces.

  • Controls glare and heat

Lower a light-filtering blind to soften strong sun, or a blackout blind to darken the room and hold back heat.

  • Clean, minimal finish

A single flat fabric panel looks tidy and uncluttered, whether fully raised, fully lowered or set partway.

  • Extra darkness behind curtains

Fitted behind curtains, a blackout roller blind adds another layer of darkness and privacy in bedrooms.

  • Chain or motorized

Operate the blind by chain, or add motorization as an add-on, quoted at the free home visit.

  • Fitting included

Installation by our own team and 5% VAT are included in every price, with one written quotation.

Where do roller blinds work best?

Roller blinds work best where space is tight or where a curtain would be impractical. Because the fabric rolls up onto a tube at the top, nothing sits at the sides of the window and nothing hangs down to the floor, so worktops, desks and basins stay clear.

  • Kitchens, above worktops and sinks
  • Home offices, to cut glare on screens
  • Bathrooms and small windows
  • Bedrooms, as a blackout layer behind curtains
  • Narrow spaces where curtains have no room to sit when open

Blackout or light-filtering: which roller blind fabric should you choose?

Choose blackout for rooms you want dark, and light-filtering for rooms you want bright but without the glare. Blackout roller blinds suit bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, and help hold back sun heat when lowered. Light-filtering and sunscreen-type fabrics suit kitchens, offices and living areas, where you want to keep daylight but take the edge off the strong Dubai sun.

The consultant brings samples to the free home visit, so you can hold each fabric up to your own window light before deciding.

Roller or roman blinds: what is the difference?

A roller blind is a single flat panel that rolls onto a tube, while a roman blind is a lined fabric blind that folds into soft horizontal pleats as it rises. Roller blinds look minimal and suit practical rooms; roman blinds look softer and suit living rooms and bedrooms. Roman blinds are hand-made, so they cost more than roller blinds.

  • Roller: flat, minimal and space-saving, from AED 1,178
  • Roman: soft folds in curtain-style fabrics, from AED 1,989
  • Both: made to measure and installed by our own team

Questions

Roller Blinds: Your Questions Answered

Anything else, ask us on WhatsApp.

How much do roller blinds cost in Dubai?

Roller blinds start from AED 1,178 for a 300 × 300 cm window, including installation by our own team and 5% VAT. Your final price depends on window sizes and fabric, and the free home visit gives you one written quotation. For a quick figure first, try the instant online estimate at /get-estimate.

What is a roller blind?

A roller blind is a single flat panel of fabric that rolls up onto a tube at the top of the window. It is lowered and raised by a chain, or by a motor if you add motorization, and can be stopped at any height to control light and privacy.

Are roller blinds available in blackout?

Yes. Blackout roller blinds use a light-blocking fabric that darkens the room when lowered and reduces heat from direct sun. They suit bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, and can also be fitted behind curtains for an extra layer of darkness.

Can roller blinds be motorized?

Yes. Motorization is available as an add-on for roller blinds, so the blind can be raised and lowered without the chain. The add-on is quoted at the free home visit, where the consultant also confirms the right set-up for each window.

Are roller blinds good for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes. Roller blinds are a practical choice for kitchens and bathrooms because the flat panel rolls up neatly at the top of the window and keeps clear of worktops, sinks and basins. Our consultant can suggest a suitable fabric for each room at the home visit.

Can I have roller blinds behind curtains?

Yes. A blackout roller blind fitted behind sheer or blackout curtains adds another layer of light control and privacy. It is a common way to darken a bedroom further while keeping the softer look of curtains in front.

Are roller blinds cheaper than roman blinds?

Yes. Roller blinds start from AED 1,178 and roman blinds from AED 1,989, each for a 300 × 300 cm window, installed and including VAT. Roman blinds are hand-made from lined, curtain-style fabrics, which is why they cost more.

How long does it take to get roller blinds installed?

Delivery is estimated at 2-4 days after you approve your quotation, and our own team installs the blinds on the day of delivery. Before that, the free home visit covers samples, measuring and one written quotation.

Do I need to measure my windows for roller blinds?

No. Book a free home visit and a consultant brings fabric samples, measures every window and gives you one written quotation, with no charge and no obligation. If you have a quick question first, you can ask on WhatsApp.

Can roller blinds be fitted without drilling in a rented apartment?

In most cases, yes. Drill-free fixings are possible for many rented homes, and our consultant will recommend fixings that suit your tenancy. Mention that you rent when you book, so the options can be checked at each window.
